The programme
Autonomics for Industry 4.0 is a technology programme by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The "AUTONOMICS for Industry 4.0" technology programme is designed to merge state-of-the-art I&C technology with industrial production by exploiting the potential offered by innovation in order to accelerate the development of innovative products

Role of scientific assistance
Scientific assistance for the Autonomics for Industry 4.0 technology programme will support the projects funded. The aim is to warrant a high quality of project outcomes in order to pave the way for market success and the successful introduction of technology-based process and product innovations. Furthermore, the implementation of the funding measure is to be made more efficient. This means identifying success factors that can boost the innovative strength of Germany's economy as well as analysing and implementing measures to improve the general framework.
Tasks of scientific assistance
•Networking
Networking representatives from the collaboration projects with initiatives from the Industry 4.0 platform in joint (strategic) matters; information and exchange on developments/findings in the context of Industry 4.0 (national/international).
• Brief studies
Brief, analytical studies are foreseen, for instance, on the technological and economic potential of cyber-physical systems in logistics and production, as well as on the transfer of findings in automation technology to industrial service robotics.
• Monitoring the projects funded
Reference to and networking with other projects of a similar nature; inclusion of projects findings/requirements in the brief studies; placement of the project work in a national/international context; involvement of project partners with specific expertise and interests in work on cross-cutting topics (legal basis: challenges/options for solutions; man-machine interaction: "Good Work in Industry 4.0"; IT security for systems and processes; standards and standardisation to support development).
• Exploitation support
Analysis/identification of exploitation options, marketing potential, competitors, target market segments, value chains and partnerships; analysis of barriers due to existing terms and conditions for use; development of exploitation scenarios and strategies, as well as assistance during the translation of project results to viable business models (for instance, by moderating workshops on exploitation and business models; development of co-operative strategies for market development, etc.); hosting cross-project workshops with industrial partners in order to exchange experience and develop joint approaches.
• Cross-cutting topics
Legal basis ("Robotrecht" Research Centre at the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Legal Theory, Information Law and Legal Informatics at the Faculty of Law at University of Würzburg); standards and standardisation to support development (DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE); IT security for systems and processes; man-machine interaction: "Good Work in Industry 4.0".
• Results transfer
Preparation and dissemination for specific target groups, co-ordination, combining and supporting publicity measures for the technology projects funded in order to achieve a uniform image and recognition of the overall programme. Hosting of workshops and conferences to disseminate results. Support during trade fair participations by the projects funded. Expert advice and editing.
