SMART

Smart Service Maturity Index

Project description
Connected products provide a large amount of data via the Internet of Things. After appropriate collection, storage, analysis and evaluation, they can be used to provide customisable, data-driven and platform-based services based on innovative digital business models. However, the planning, development and delivery of these so-called smart services requires a more far-reaching transformation of established product manufacturers.

The aim of the SMART project is to develop a set of tools that supports companies from a wide range of application areas and domains in systematically making the transition to smart service providers by identifying their advantageous positioning in the smart service world and showing ways of realising this positioning. It is based on the development of a maturity index for the transformation to a smart service provider.

The tools will be converted into web-based Minimum Viable Products and made available to interested companies for the transformation to Smart Service providers in German and English:

  • A Smart Service Maturity Quick Assessment will be a freely accessible web-based tool for quick self-assessment of companies' maturity level ("status quo"). It will include a generic gap analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses in the adaptation and generic roadmap development, which provides recommendations for action to achieve the selected target maturity level.
  • A more in-depth accompanied assessment is offered to companies by the consortium partners according to their needs. It provides companies with access to assessors who use the index and, through their input, can carry out a maturity assessment as well as an individualised in-depth gap analysis and roadmap development via the Smart Service Maturity Platform, which is also being developed.
  • The Smart Service Maturity Hub serves as a "one stop shop" for interested companies and provides the Smart Service Maturity Quick Assessment as well as more in-depth information on the maturity index, its development and the development team.

The project serves as a catalyst for the successful and economic implementation of smart services and thus contributes to securing and improving the competitive position of German companies in the competitive digital arena.
