Quantum computing is no longer a distant vision of the future, but is beginning to find its way into practical applications. Progress in this area is not only a technical challenge, but also requires the development and growth of specialised communities. The BMWK technology programme "Quantum Computing - Applications for the Economy" is making an important contribution to this development, contributing significantly to the dissemination and application of quantum computing through its research projects and community building. The key results of this funding programme will be presented at Bitkom's Quantum Summit.

Insights into the BMWK technology programme

Dr. Sophia Helmrich and Dr. Johann Schmidt from the DLR Project Management Agency will provide an overview of the diverse results of the technology programme. From their experience of supporting the programme, they will highlight highlights from individual projects, with a particular focus on the contributions to the Quantum Software Stack. They will also provide insights into the cross-project work on benchmarks for hardware, software and applications - an important step in demonstrating the performance and practicality of quantum computing solutions.

In-depth insights from the projects

In the further course of the event, the participating projects themselves will provide in-depth insights into their developments:

• Qompiler: Project manager Sebastian Bock from Fraunhofer FOKUS demonstrates the possibilities of the developed high-level language Qrisp by implementing an optimisation problem. The innovative Qrisp language makes it possible to programme complex quantum algorithms efficiently and thus fully exploit the potential of quantum computing.
• AutoQML: Representatives of this project will present the framework of the same name, which enables the automated use of quantum computing-supported machine learning. A specific use case will be used to demonstrate how AutoQML can revolutionise the development and application of machine learning models.
• QCHALLenge: Two exemplary applications of quantum computing for solving industrial challenges are presented from the diverse use cases of the project. The results will be compared with current solutions in order to highlight the advantages and progress made through the use of quantum computing.
• ProvideQ: This project is also represented at the event and presents meta solver strategies that are used to decompose and solve optimisation problems. The ProvideQ Toolbox, a prototype implementation of these strategies, will be presented and will demonstrate how complex optimisation tasks can be solved efficiently.

The Quantum Summit thus offers decision-makers from industry and politics as well as research experts an excellent opportunity to learn about the successes of the technology programme "Quantum Computing - Applications for the Economy". The projects presented and their impressive results make it clear how quantum computing can contribute to solving complex problems in the future, such as the optimisation of industrial processes. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to find out about the current status and future prospects of quantum computing and make valuable contacts.
