Milestone for the cloud: completion of the AUDITOR project
The BMWK-funded AUDITOR project has developed an EU-wide data protection certification for cloud services. Successes were presented at the final meeting in Karlsruhe and the continuation of the "GDPR CC" certification was discussed.
Cloud services play a central role in today's business world. While organisations benefit from their many advantages, they also face the challenge of ensuring security and data protection in an increasingly networked environment. In this respect, the AUDITOR (European Cloud Service Data Protection Certification) project, funded by the BMWK, marks an important step in the endeavour to ensure secure and data protection-compliant cloud use in the EU-area.
On 26 April 2024, the final project meeting took place in Karlsruhe, which not only offered the opportunity to look back on the milestones achieved, but also to look ahead to how the project results can be used in the future. The AUDITOR project aimed to develop an EU-wide data protection certification for cloud services in accordance with the GDPR and to test this in practice. The results will facilitate the effective implementation of data protection measures in cloud services and create more transparency for companies. This was made possible by the collaboration of the interdisciplinary consortium and many associated partners.
AUDITOR played a pioneering role throughout Europe during the six and a half years of the project. The "GDPR CC" certification resulting from the project will be offered by the associated partner Trusted Cloud e. V. after the end of the project and will be used, among other things, for upcoming certifications of project partners.
