CampusOS Plugfest: Milestones on the way to open 5G Campus Networks
October 23rd-25th, at the invitation of the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI, partners and satellite projects came together for the CampusOS Plugfest. In the “Forum Digitale Technologien”, the project team exchanged ideas about what they had achieved so far and solidified their cohesion in the process.
CampusOS aims to consolidate the various technical components for the realisation of open and modular 5G Campus Networks. The project team is working on a catalogue of technical building blocks for specialised Campus Networks and is developing tools for dimensioning, planning, network management and optimisation. It is important that the different components work well together in concrete business applications.
The highlights of the Plugfest therefore included the testing and verification of the interoperability of 5G components and the presentation of the test targets that have been successfully implemented so far:
• Validating the interoperability of open RAN solutions
• Testing advanced features for smoother deployment
• Demonstration of seamless interoperability
• Testing functional components and interfaces
• Testing end-to-end scenarios
The good cooperation between the partners is at the heart of CampusOS. In addition to the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, the partners EANTC AG, highstreet technologies, Kubermatic, Fraunhofer IPK, Rohde & Schwarz, Siemens, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, YUMA Technologie GmbH and the partners of the "satellite" projects MAVERIC and 5G++ FlexiCell were involved.
Stay tuned: The next CampusOS Plugfest is planned for Q2/2024, and we look forward to sharing more insights with you.
