The intralogistics of the future - the ARIBIC platform live at Hannover Messe
How can automation help companies make their intralogistics safer and more efficient? The AI-based ARIBIC platform offers one solution. At the Hannover Messe, the project team will provide information about concrete application possibilities, opportunities and future prospects.
Automation is the future - also in intralogistics. Every millimetre often counts, for example when a robot stands in front of a shelf to store or retrieve goods. But automation is not everything, autonomy is also needed: a transport vehicle must be as anticipatory and self-determined as possible in dealing with unforeseen situations. A smart robot, for example, is constantly aware of its surroundings in order to adapt its own behaviour. And with advanced AI solutions, different systems can even coordinate with each other.
Increase security and efficiency in the warehouse with 3D maps
The ARIBIC platform offers a solution for the warehouse of the future. An international team coordinated by the German company STILL GmbH has developed the project. ARIBIC stands for Artificial Intelligence-Based Indoor Cartography. The aim of the project was to develop a live digital twin for warehouses - the autonomous, smart intralogistics of the next generation.
To this end, the project team developed an AI-based, open platform solution. The digital applications provided in it are used to collect data from sensors of automated vehicles, for example forklifts, and to convert it into a digital image of the environment. The data is stored in the cloud and is the basis for geometric 3D maps with additional semantic information. Thanks to the algorithms developed in the ARIBIC project, these highly precise and detailed indoor maps are permanently updated so that a "living" digital twin of the warehouse is constantly available - as a basis for safe driving of transport robots and for effective tracking of vehicles in real time.
The technology offers a lot of potential for further application scenarios, for example when it comes to recording freight or warehouse stocks, recognising cases of damage or optimising logistics.
Exclusive insights into the intralogistics of the future - live at the trade fair stand
Visitors can gain a practical insight into the "metaverse of intralogistics" at the Google stand (Hall 17, Stand E16). In addition to live demonstrations with the iGo neo order-picking vehicle, current videos and expert discussions offer the latest information. Especially to be noted:
19.04., 14:00 - 14:25, Live-Talk „ARIBIC: The Intralogistics Metaverse“
(Google Cloud Booth Theatre, Halle 17, Stand E16).
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
The coordinator is STILL GmbH (Germany), and the partners are the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the company LeddarTech (Canada) and the University of Toronto (Canada).
